SUMMER HOUSING 2026
Who Can Apply?
Summer residents must meet one of the following requirements:
- Are registered for at least 1 summer credit at WWU or another local college (WWU login required to apply)
- Are doing an internship or field work for WWU
- Enrolled as a WWU student for Fall 2026
- Employed over the summer with WWU, University Residences or Dining Services
Residents who wish to stay All Summer must meet these additional requirements:
- Confirmed 2026-2027 on-campus housing
- Available for mandatory move dates
Typical Length of Stay
- 6 Weeks: Six-week summer session (ends July 31, 2026)
- 9 Weeks: Nine-week summer session (ends Aug 21, 2026)
- All Summer: Available for confirmed 2026-2027 residents. → Move to fall housing on Monday, Sept 7, 2026
Summer Intersession
Summer intersession is the week between the end of spring quarter and the start of summer quarter (June 13–20).
- Current spring residents with summer housing will be automatically billed for intersession housing.
- If you want to opt out of summer intersession, you must indicate so on your summer application.
If you opt out of summer intersession housing:
- You must fully move out of your spring assignment by 4:00pm on June 12.
- You cannot move into your summer assignment until June 21.
If you stay for summer intersession (default):
- You must move from your spring assignment to your summer assignment on Monday, June 15.
Steps to Apply for Summer Housing

1. Apply for Summer Housing
Apply in the MyHousing portal. Take a roommate survey and accept the Summer Housing Agreement. Applicants will be prompted to pay the $250 housing prepayment to secure your spot.
Pay $250 Housing Prepayment
Due by June 1
2. Pay Housing Prepayment
When notice of prepayment due posts in MyHousing, follow the payment instructions to carefully ensure proper processing of your housing prepayment. The $250 secures your spot in summer housing and will be applied to your summer charges.
Room Assignments Posted

Room assignments are posted in MyHousing, along with roommate and suitemate information. You are encouraged to contact your roommate to get acquainted and plan what to bring.
Living Options
Buchanan Towers
Summer Housing 2026 will be located in Buchanan Towers. Meal plans are required for summer for residence halls. See summer rates and meal plan options for more information.
Birnam Wood apartments are not offered for summer 2026 due to construction.
Maximum Stay
9 week session, ends Friday, August 21 (unless you are eligible for all-summer option).
All Summer
Summer residents who have confirmed 2026-2027 academic year housing are eligible to remain in housing until the start of fall quarter. This contract option is available on the housing application.
Room Occupancy
Double rooms are available for Summer Housing. Some single occupancy rooms may be available, please contact Housing for more information.

Moving from Spring Housing to Summer Housing
If you are a current spring resident with summer housing, you will be required to move from your spring assignment to your summer assignment in Buchanan Towers on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Moving from Summer Housing to Fall Housing
If you are an all-summer resident who will be living on campus Fall 2026, you will be required to move from your summer assignment to your fall assignment on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026.
Plan Ahead
You will receive an email with instructions prior to your mandatory move date.
If you are not available during your required move date, your belongings will be boxed and stored, and your room will be rekeyed-all associated costs will be billed to you.

- 125 MPQ: 125 meal swipes + $225 dining dollars + 5 guest meals

There are no penalties for cancelling prior to submitting your $250 prepayment.
Already submitted your prepayment? Cancel your summer housing application in the MyHousing portal before June 1 to be refunded your $250.
