As the ResTek Front-End Web Developer you will implement front-end solutions connecting design with functionality for the University Residences website. You will translate project specifications into design implementations, integrate front-end designs with REST APIs, collaborate with other developers to optimize front-end web performance, implement responsive and reactive web designs. You will use front-end frameworks, and contribute to our code base while adhering to the team’s version control workflow. You will document implementation decisions and justifications and stay current with emerging front-end technologies and practices.

We care about our users and emphasize user-centered design methodologies. You will incorporate design and usability feedback into design implementations, communicate technical concepts to audiences with non-technical backgrounds, and write HTML with accessibility standards in mind.

As a member of the ResTek team you will manage projects, maintain the integrity, consistency, and accessibility of the website and web applications, and work collaboratively with staff responsible for web application development, design, content, and usability. You will update website content accurately, reliably, and on-time.

The ResTek web team is composed of Web & Graphic Designers, a Web Usability Coordinators, Front-End Web Developers and Web Application Developers. Many skills are utilized across positions.

The Front-End Developer’s primary focus is to implement designs. The job consists of front-end coding, working with HTML and CSS, and performing content management.

• You have strong knowledge and experience in HTML, CSS-based design, and JavaScript
• You have experience working with a front-end framework
• You are familiar with responsive design and reactive interfaces
• You are passionate about usability and have an eye for design
• You are familiar with asynchronous programming
• You manage projects well

• You are detail oriented and can see the big picture

• We develop in HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Python using the Vue web framework
• We use Open Source tools
• We typically use a UNIX-based working environment
• We use peer-to-peer training to teach staff the tools and languages used in our applications

Hourly wage is $14.39 per hour, and paid training starts immediately upon hire. Must be available to work 15–19 hours per week during the academic year and preference may be given to candidates who are available to work at least 20 hours per week during the summer. (Enrollment in summer classes is not required.) Must be enrolled at least through Fall 2018. You must maintain a 2.00 cumulative GPA minimum and be taking at least 10 credits (8 for graduate students) during employment. Preference given to applicants who live or have lived on campus. On-campus housing is available at a discounted rate during summer.
