About
Hi, my name is Sam Whitney, and I’ll be the RA for the sixth floor of Nash Hall for the 2025-2026 school year. Part of the reason I choose to go by Sam is that I’ve always felt like Samuel is a little too formal for me most of the time. I’m a big believer in not taking things too seriously in life, but at the same time I think I’ve developed a pretty good sense of what matters to me, and when I do need to get serious. For starters, I take my education very seriously. I was homeschooled until my freshman year of high school, and if my mom ever heard about me not getting the most out of my education after how far I’ve come since my homeschooled days, I’d never hear the end of it. I spent my first two years of college at Everett Community College earning my associate degree. Now, entering my fourth and final year at Western, I’m planning on wrapping up my bachelor in Journalism - Public Relations with a minor in Canadian-American Studies. Because of my experience in a lot of different educational settings, another thing I take seriously is helping make the transition between those settings easier on those around me. That’s where most of my passion for being an RA comes from. I hope to accomplish what’s best for my entire floor, and if there’s a single student who feels that they had an easier time settling in at Western because of the help I’m able to offer, I’ll consider my time as an RA a success. When I’m not in class or at work, I can be found spending time with my friends, reading about history, or consuming every morsel of baseball-related content I can find. Anyway, enough about me. Go Mariners, go Vikings, and I hope to see you in the Fall!
