Mathes Hall houses women and men on separate floors in double-occupancy rooms with interior corridors. Mathes has great views of Bellingham Bay and the Canadian Coastal Range, and features a sundeck, computer lab, study area, lounges on each floor, and game rooms. The main lounge with a fireplace and kitchen serves as the social center for the entire building. Laundry Room and table tennis are located on the basement level, as well as indoor bike storage.
Staff and residents alike work hard to plan events and programs for the building, facilitating an active community of new residents as well as many returning residents. Mathes is known for its close-knit but very welcoming community that enhances the residential experience for all its residents.
With creative, involved, and welcoming residents, an energetic and friendly staff, and a beautiful building in a convenient location, Mathes is a great community to live. Hall Council is very motivated and involved, and provides a lot of great leadership opportunities for interested residents. Mathes also puts on a large number of programs and events each year. The most notable event is Piccadilly, a large campus wide formal dance put on in cooperation with Nash Hall.
