Buchanan Towers offers double and triple rooms within suites connected by indoor hallways; suitemates share a common bathroom and living area. Unique to BT, each suite also includes a kitchenette. BT Station Café & Market on the ground floor is open to the campus community and a spacious main lounge offers plenty of seating. The TV and game lounge is a great place for residents to hang out, throw events, or play pool and ping pong. Smaller floor lounges are located throughout the building. Also available to residents are a computer lab and seminar room, as well as indoor bike storage.
The BT community overlooks the Outback nature area and Happy Valley, and is in walking distance of a variety of on and off campus locations. Residents can catch the bus to class in front of the building or enjoy the short walk up South Campus Drive; both are convenient and quick. A five or ten minute walk will take residents to the Fairhaven dining commons, Recreation Center, Arboretum, or the Outback. Tennis courts and playing fields are also located just across the street.
At Buchanan Towers there are 8 floors offering excellent programming, activities and learning opportunities. BT is a great place to live where residents can make themselves a home away from home. One of the largest programming initiatives that BT takes part in is Southside Pride. Residents from Fairhaven, the BT Community and Birnam Wood gather to represent their respective halls in a variety of social events such as dances, movie nights and ice cream socials, and friendly competitions with the goal of developing pride for the South Campus community.
GENDER INCLUSIVE HOUSING: Buchanan Towers (third floor) includes the gender-inclusive housing cluster, offering students a supportive living environment where room assignment is not based upon gender. Gender-inclusive housing is available to non-first-year students; freshmen may appeal.
