New Residence Hall

The new Residence Hall location has officially been announced! The new building will be sited where Highland Hall and Highland Lounge are currently located, and will extend north toward College Hall.

University Residences is currently finalizing the design and cost of the new residence hall (see graphic below). Construction is scheduled to begin in August, following the end of the design and cost phase.

During the design and cost phase, Housing has marked off fenced off the construction zone during the demolition of Highland Hall, which may impact traffic routes along with the waste and recycling collection stations.

See Western Today for construction information.

The new hall will have approximately 400 beds and will include:

  • Laundry
  • Storage
  • Lounges
  • Common Kitchens
  • Kitchenettes in some units
  • Study areas

Construction is scheduled for completion in July 2021 and students are slated to move into the new building fall 2021.

Please see the graphic below for an estimated project timeline.

Note: Completion dates are subject to change. Check back to see updated timelines and information.
