Birnam Wood Community
Meet the Staff
Hello! I am very excited to be here for my 4th year at Western Washington University! I’m originally from the Los Angeles/Orange County area of California, where I worked at Disneyland for about six years while attending community college and university. As a student, I was a tour guide and orientation leader, and was very involved in student government. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications-Advertising at California State University, Fullerton. My very first move was to New York where I spent two years completing my master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at the University at Buffalo. During my grad program, I spent my summer interning here at WWU with Conference and Guest Housing and immediately fell in love with the campus culture. In my free time, I enjoy going to the movies, discovering new places to eat, and going on adventures (and there are plenty of places to visit in Bellingham!). Feel free to say hi to me whenever you see me around campus. I’m looking forward to meeting you and helping you create an unforgettable experience in Birnam Wood this year!
Senior Community Adviser
Hi everyone, my name is Jonica and I am so excited to be returning to Birnam Wood - this time as the Senior Community Adviser! I am a fourth-year student here at Western, and I am getting a double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance. I am heavily involved in Western's music department through clubs and different extra-curricular activities, including performing! This year I am the on the board for Western's Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association, and I am also a soprano section leader for the Western Concert Choir. I love going to school at Western because it is a beautiful campus, and there are so many wonderful opportunities to get involved in the community! Please feel free to drop by my office anytime that I'm around to meet me, or ask any questions that you may have. Looking forward to an amazing year!
Howdy y'all, I'm Erika! It's my third year here at Western and I'm studying English and Education. I'm planning on getting my Master's in Education. I've been living in Washington all my life, and I love most things cliché about living in the PNW (including coffee, books, the water, farmers markets, and nature). I'm excited to get to work with the Gender Inclusive Community in Birnam Wood this year and even more excited to get to know everyone living in the community.
Hello! My name is Angie, I’m a junior here at Western, and I'm excited to be your CA! I like hiking and hammocking in my free time. I also love volunteering and traveling. My favorite thing about Western is the location! With mountains, bodies of water, and forests all super close by it’s hard to run out of things to do. If you want to know more about what WWU and Bellingham have to offer, feel free to contact me!
Hello! My name is Hunter Gillam; I was born in Portland Oregon, I am 20 years old and I am a 3rd year student here at Western. I am getting my bachelors in music with a minor in arts enterprise and cultural innovation. I play saxophone, keys, guitar, and I sing- so if you see me playing around Bellingham say hello! My favorite thing about western is being in such a beautiful environment. It inspires me to be creative. If you ever need ideas of where to eat or places to go hang out, let me know!
