Meet the Staff
Supervising Resident Director
Hello and welcome to WWU! I am excited to work with each of you this year in creating a welcoming and supportive community. I am originally from Central Oregon and am delighted to now call Bellingham home. During my undergraduate experience, I attended Oregon State University, where I studied English and Secondary Education. After graduation, I moved to NW Ohio to complete my master’s degree in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University. Throughout my higher education experiences I have worked closely with residence life, leadership development, student organizations, and campus activities. I love that I am able to fulfill my passion for helping others find a connection to the campus community, discovering their potential as leaders, and making their experiences memorable in my role here at Western. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, Kyle; our coonhound, Elvis; traveling; reading a good book; collecting inspiring quotes; and creating art. Feel free to come by and say hi or swap stories over coffee. Let's make this year, and your Western experience, a great one!
Senior Resident Advisers
Hi there! This year is my last year at WWU, and I’m excited to spend it getting to know you! I’m an English Literature major who loves anything to do with reading and writing, and I’m planning to go on to get a Master's in Library Science, with dreams of working to improve literacy! On my free time you can find me curled up with a book and a cup of coffee, exploring Bellingham, singing, drawing, and contemplating the impact I can have on society. The thing I love the most about WWU is how close it is to nature and how friendly everyone is up here! I love meeting new people and chatting it up with old friends, so feel free to stop by my office if you need anything!
Welcome to the Beta Gamma Kappa community! This is my third year at Western and I’m currently pursuing an Accounting major with a minor in Management Information Systems. On campus I’m involved with Accounting Society and the Equestrian Team. In my free time I enjoy watching NCIS and DC Comics on Netflix, listening to musicals, hammocking, and ice skating. My favorite part of WWU is the down-to-earth community that the university fosters …and Zoe’s Bagels. I look forward to meeting you, so feel free to stop by!
Welcome to the community! This is my third and final year at Western, where I am majoring in Environmental Studies with minors in Disaster Risk Reduction and Political Science. I grew up in the US, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam, which is where my love for traveling began. My other hobbies include playing intramurals and being around friends and family. One thing I love about Western is the opportunities and experiences that are offered on and off campus. My door is always open – feel free to drop by to chat, have coffee/tea and snacks or to just hang out! I’m very excited to get to know everyone and help contribute to your Western experience!
Welcome to Western! I’m Emily, a second-year student studying Spanish and Public Relations. I also take part in the Honors Program. Two of my passions are playing piano and dancing. To relax, I like to read, listen to music and bake. I also enjoy participating in CCF (Campus Christian Fellowship). Last year, I taught barre fitness classes at Western’s rec center. I still plan on taking classes like Zumba and Mixxedfit, so feel free to join me if you need to burn off some stress! In my opinion, the best part of Bellingham is the gorgeous sunsets, and the best part of Western is the camaraderie. Anywhere you go, someone will smile, hold the door for you or strike up a conversation. I encourage you to branch out and find new friends and experiences. Last year was the most fun and growing year of my life so far, and I’m excited to help you have a great year too. Let me know if you have any questions, and you’re always welcome to stop by and chat.
My name is Kamille Hocking, I am a sophomore at WWU. I’m majoring in Kinesiology with plans to go to Optometry school later on. I’m on Western’s Waterski Team and one of the captains. My favorite thing about Western is getting to go to school and live in such a beautiful area. Other things to know about me are I’m from Colorado, I absolutely love dogs, and I am so excited to be an RA this year!
Hi folks! I'm Emily and this is my 2nd year RAing in the Beta Gamma Kappa community. I couldn't be more thrilled! I'm a junior just getting started in my major, community health. I love making playlists and discovering new music, along with journaling, intramurals, being with friends, and watching Netflix with my cat, SassyBob (yes, that's his name; come stop by and say hey to him sometime)! My favorite part about Western can't be summarized in just one sentence-- I love everything about the vibe, the beautiful city of Bellingham, and the friendships I've made here. I'm absolutely stoked to be a part of your journey at WWU, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
Hi! My name is Bethany, and I’m in my second year at Western. I am working on my degree in Human Services with minors in Psychology and Spanish, and I am a member of the honors program! Outside of class, I love to take fitness courses at the Rec Center, including barre and kickboxing, and if I’m not there, you can probably find me drinking a vanilla chai latte at Zoe’s Bagels or walking around beautiful Bellingham with my friends. I am also part of the Catholic Newman Center on campus. My favorite part of WWU is definitely the unique community. I have found some of my best friends at this school, and I know that is because Western is full of truly amazing students and offers great opportunities to meet new people. I am so excited to be an RA this year because I can’t wait to meet more awesome residents! Stop by my room anytime; I am always open to talk!
Hi! I’m a third year student from Snoqualmie, Washington, and have spent my entire life in the Pacific Northwest. I am working toward a degree in Music Composition, and in my free time I enjoy making music, cooking and sewing. I love spending time with my friends and exploring all the beaches here in Bellingham. My favorite thing about the campus would be the amazing views of the sunset from the Performing Art Center. I can't wait to meet you!
Hi everybody! This is my second year at Western. I’m planning to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a minor in Linguistics. I love animals, so if you ever find yourself taking your cat or dog for a walk by my room, feel free to stop by! Some of my hobbies are reading, knitting, and watching different TV shows like the Office, This is Us and Downton Abbey. I also love the Eurovision Song Contest, so if anyone else out there is also a fan and wants to talk about it when spring time rolls around, let me know! My favorite thing about Western is the overall environment that is created by the students and staff, it’s so welcoming and warm, especially if you’re a new student. I’m so excited to see what this year brings!
Hi everyone! I am so excited to be an RA in Beta-Gamma for a second year. I am a junior and I am majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology and Business Administration. I currently serve on the Academic Honesty Board and the Student Academic Grievance Board. In my free time, I like to read, hang out with friends and explore Bellingham. I am an avid coffee drinker and am always studying at a new café. I love Western for its super welcoming atmosphere, fun outdoor adventures, and amazing people. I look forward to meeting you all this year. Feel free to stop by my room and say hello!
Hi everyone! My name is Ari and I’m a sophomore here at WWU. I’m a political science major with a probable minor in communication studies. Things you’ll find me doing outside of class are talking about politics, running/hiking/backpacking, and watching documentaries. One of my favorite things about Western is the welcoming community of the Ridge, so I’m incredibly excited to be your RA this year!
