The University Residences Financial Appeals Board provides an avenue for students who disagree with the assessment of a housing charge against their account or experience contractual difficulties with University Residences. If a student has an issue concerning the Housing Agreement, a situation above and beyond their control, a desire to break the agreement, or a disputed damage/cleaning charge, they may submit a Financial Appeal. The appeal will be researched prior to Board review in order to establish that the petitioner has made a reasonable attempt to resolve their situation before submitting an appeal.
Traditionally, the Board is comprised of three students and two administrators; the Executive Board is comprised of two administrators. The Board meets once a week while the University is in session. The board reviews appeals in the order received. Student petitioners receive the Board's decision via their WWU email.
Please note: the Board is comprised of administrators and, if possible, student volunteers.
Students should pay any balance owing on a WWU Student Account, even if it involves a charge that is being appealed, as all charges are subject to applicable late fees and registration holds.
Appeals must be filed within 30 days of the event or notification of a disputed charge.
