About
Hello! My name is Allison Lam. I am a journalism pre-major with a public relations emphasis. I have a minor in communication studies, and I am thinking about pursuing another one in political science. I am hoping to pursue a career in government or non-profit PR. A career in PR allows me to focus on my skills and interests, such as researching, writing, and engaging with her community. I was born in Honolulu, HI, and I moved to Oak Harbor, WA when I was young. I lived in Oak Harbor for most of my life, but I frequently visit my family in Hawaii. After getting my associates degree with an emphasis in communications from Skagit Valley College (a community college from Mount Vernon, WA), I transferred to Western Washington University in Winter 2025. I am hoping to finish my degree in Winter 2027. I have lived on campus for the past few quarters, staying in Buchanan Towers. In my free time, I like watching movies, exploring downtown restaurants, and thinking about learning how to knit (someday I will learn it…). I also love crocheting while watching TV, so let me know if you have any show or movie recommendations. I enjoy mystery, action, and sitcoms. I am excited to become a residential office assistant this year. As a former tutor, sales associate, and frequent volunteer, I have a lot of experience with teamwork, community relations and organization. I hope this opportunity will strengthen my skill set and become more familiar with the campus’ many activities.
