Position Summary

Housing Ambassadors are valued student employees who live on campus and showcase their rooms during tours and events. As tour room hosts, ambassadors interact with a diverse range of students and their families. Trained and supervised by University Residences marketing staff, ambassadors provide a unique student perspective both in-person and on Housing's social media.

Note: Showrooms are located in Nash Hall, Alma Clark Glass Hall, Edens Hall, and Ridgeway Beta. Housing Ambassador candidates must be willing to live in any showroom.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be available from 12:00-3:30pm most Fridays throughout the academic year and several Saturdays in April
  • Must be willing to live in any showroom location
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work independently with a high degree of reliability
  • Maintain good academic and conduct standing with the university
  • Learn about housing and dining at Western

Primary Responsibilities

  • Showcase room for prospective students, their families and others during organized tour days and special events
  • Maintain your room in a condition that is neat, clean and welcoming
  • Ensure room is open and ready on tour/event day
  • Discuss benefits of living on campus to visitors
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions
  • Log visitor data through an online form
  • Assist with additional marketing efforts as assigned

Terms of Employment

Dates of employment: September 2026 through June 2027

Compensation: $19.79/hour and discounted room rate

Hours of work:

  • 2-4 hours of paid training and staff meetings
  • 12-15 events throughout winter & spring quarter, 3-5 hours per week
  • Shifts are typically on Fridays from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, and a couple of Saturdays in spring quarter

Housing assignment: Your housing assignment is determined by University Residences. Termination of employment will result in housing reassignment. 

Roommates: You will be assigned a fellow ambassador roommate.

As a campus resident, you must maintain compliance with University Residences policies and procedures.

As a student employee, you must maintain compliance with the Student Employment Handbook.

  • Successful applicants will be emailed with an interview offer in late April
  • Interviews will be held early May
