National Residence Hall Honorary

What is NRHH?

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a national organization that advocates for the interests and welfare of residence hall students and provides opportunities for their personal growth and development. Western’s chapter of NRHH promotes academic support resources to residents and coordinates service opportunities on campus and in the community. NRHH WWU also regularly recognizes individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing through a variety of award programs.

Awards and Recognition

Of the Month Awards

NRHH WWU regularly recognizes individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing through Of the Month Awards (OTMs). Anyone that lives or works with the residence halls can submit an OTM which recognizes outstanding work in the following categories:

  • Advisor
  • Community
  • Executive Board Member
  • National Communications Coordinator
  • Organization
  • Resident Advisor
  • Student
  • Spotlight
  • Educational
  • Diversity
  • Community Service
  • Social

University residents can submit paper OTM nominations through a form available at each residence hall desk, or online through the national OTM website. Submissions are due by the fifth of the month for the previous month. Nominations and evaluated by the WWU’s NRHH chapter executive board members. A winner from each category is selected and submitted to NRHH’s Regional Associate; nominees selected at the regional level are then sent to the NRHH National Office for winner selection. All nominations received special recognition by the NRHH Executive Team.

Hall of the Year

At the end of every academic year, NRHH holds a Hall of the Year event. Each residence hall has the opportunity to submit a bid for Hall of the Year recognition, with information on how their hall embodies the NRHH values of recognition, service and academics. NRHH representatives are available to assist hall council executive teams with the bid submission process. Please note only students may compile bids (no RA, RD or ARD may contribute to the process).

Service

NRHH encourages students to become more involved by providing service opportunities on campus and in the greater community once a quarter. Past service opportunities have been food and clothing drives, prom and accessories drives, blood drives, AIDS Walk and a charity dodgeball tournament. We are currently planning this year’s calendar and would love to hear your ideas!
