Many of you have questions about how Housing will work if you apply to live on campus Spring or Fall 2021. We hope the information below helps you make the best decision for you.

Please note: we work hard to accommodate everyone who wants to live on campus.

FALL 2021

Fall Priority Housing Application Deadline for Current Off-Campus Students: May 1.

Fall Classes: Western is expected to provide an update on fall 2021 class instruction modality by mid-March and Housing will follow campus direction on occupancy numbers.

Please note: we anticipate having much more Housing capacity than fall 2020, and we have set aside a percentage of rooms for the Fall 2021 Housing Lottery.

Roommate Search for Fall: While your Housing Application is automatically placed on hold until we run the May lottery, you can access Roommate Manager to search for a roommate once you apply for fall Housing.  We have configured our Roommate Manager tool so you can meet others in your group.

Fall 2021 Housing Lottery for 2020-21 first year/incoming transfer students: While we will try to house everyone wishing to live on campus in the fall, Housing will conduct a lottery among your fall academic year group if needed.

Anyone not selected through the lottery is automatically placed on a housing waitlist.

SPRING 2021

Spring Priority Housing Application Deadline for Current Off-Campus Students: March 1

If you applied for Housing but chose to stay home due to COVID-19 restrictions, and are considering applying for Spring 2021 Housing, this information will help you move forward.

Spring Classes: The University announced spring and summer classes will be mostly remote. Housing will maintain current occupancy levels in spring quarter and we anticipate having space for everyone wishing to live on campus.

Fall Housing Renewal Deadline: All Spring 2021 WWU residents wishing to live on campus again next year participate in the Housing Renewal process. The Renewal for fall priority application period is April 1 – April 15. Spring residents are sent an email and a brochure with Renewal information.

Roommate Search for Fall: Once you complete your Renewal Housing Application in April, you can access Roommate Manager to search for a roommate.  We configured our Roommate Manager tool so you can meet others in your group.

Fall 2021 Housing Renewal Lottery for 2020-21 first year/incoming transfer students: While we attempt to house everyone wishing to live on campus in the fall, Housing will run a May lottery for your fall academic year group if needed.

Reminder: Do not apply for both Fall Housing and Spring Housing – your fall application process is different depending on whether you live on campus in spring 2021.
