Hi, Buchanan Towers!!!! I am so SO excited about this year!! And about getting to know you!! Or working with you again if you are coming back!! This will be my fourth year in the coolest place you’ll ever live: Buchanan Towers. Buchanan Towers has truly become my home, and I hope it becomes your home as well. I came to Western from the great state of Texas where I went to Baylor University and studied biology and chemistry and got my masters in higher education student affairs. I love to color, watch movies and play games. I love flowers and students and milk. I want to get to know you. I live in Buchanan Towers, too! So come visit Carlos and I – we’d love to share some Mexican hot chocolate with you. Welcome to Buchanan Towers!

I was born in Masvingo, Zimbabwe and was raised in Cambodia and Vietnam. Hanoi, Vietnam is where I graduated High School. I transferred to here from the University of Hawaii, Manoa and am a Finance Major with a Minor in Chinese. I love the outdoors, BBQing, Hiking, Surfing and Camping! I am stoked to get to know you all more, and am excited for this coming year! If you see me in the Residence Halls, on campus or at the gym please don’t hesitate in pulling me aside to say “Hello!”, “Hi!”, “Aloha!”, “Sup!”, “Xin chào!”, “你好!” or “こんにちは!”. I can’t wait to get to know you, see you soon!

Administrative Assistant

Elaine Busko

My name is Elaine and I’m the Administrative Assistant this year in BT! I’m a junior double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I’m from Spokane, WA, so I’m used to more snow than rain and more wheat fields than green trees! I’m a runner at heart and am currently training for my second half marathon. When I’m not on campus I’m usually out running, going out with friends, or cuddling with my awesome cat Genevieve!

Resident Advisor

Karleigh Warner

  • 2nd Floor

Hello! My name is Karleigh Ray Warner, and I'm grateful to be learning and growing alongside you in Buchanan Towers. I'm a junior in Woodring studying Elementary Education. Home for me is in Lake Tapps, where my adorable kitty lives! I attended Cal State East Bay for my first year of college but am grateful to reconnect with the Pacific Northwest, especially given the beautiful surroundings and adventurous spirit at Western. My most common hobbies include gaming, eating at new restaurants, and taking pictures. I also enjoy singing, hiking, and cooking! I look forward to meeting you, my fellow students, in BT and hearing about your pastimes and passions.

Siri Rigsby

  • 3rd Floor

Hey everyone! My name is Siri, I’m a sophomore and I’ll be the 3rd Floor R.A for this year. I was born in Seattle, Washington but came to Western from Carbondale, Illinois. As of right now I am a Political Science major with an interest in campaigning for non-profit groups. In my free time I love to be outside, go on walks and visit Boulevard Park. I am also a HUGE Harry Potter fan and am also a fan of Joss Weldon’s work (Firefly being my favorite show). I really enjoy volunteering and spending time with others. I can’t wait to meet you all and begin this adventure!

Alexander Hough

  • 4th Floor

I am a senior from Kent where I lived my entire pre-college years. I am studying Mathematics and Economics and hope to become an Actuary. I enjoy playing music, sports and games in my free time. I wanted to be an RA because I love connecting with lots of people.

Stephanie Dick

  • 5th Floor

Hey everyone I’m Stephanie! I am in my junior year here at Western. The past two years I lived in Mathes and so I am really excited to spend the year in BT with you all. I will be the RA on the fifth floor of BT Classic. I have so many ideas about how we can have a fun filled year together. I am currently studying Elementary Education. I’ve known I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 5th grade! I enjoy relaxing by the pool in the summer time and snowboarding down Mt. Baker in the winter. During the school week I also go to the Zumba class that the Rec Center offers. After graduating I hope to teach aboard so I can do two things that I love the most: traveling and teaching. I look forward to getting to know everyone as the year progresses!

Saranda Lund

  • 6th Floor

Hi, I'm Saranda Lund and I'm so excited to be the RA for the 6th floor of BT! I'm originally from Tenino, WA which is a teensy town near Olympia, but I now live in Bellingham pretty much all year around! I'm a sociology major with a minor in psychology. I love doing photography, reading, watching sports of any kind and I love exploring/going on adventures! Come say hi because I love meeting new people!

Hunter Clark

  • 7th Floor

I am undeclared, but on course to major in International Business and minor in French. I hope to use my degree in business to make the world more conscious of our environmental impacts through our products and services. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my plants, reading, and occasionally fixing up bikes. I decided to be an RA because I dislike seeing any potential go to waste; I hope that students (whether they are one of my residents or not) can and will use me to help them get to where they’re going.

Valeriy Bizyayev

  • 8th Floor

I have grown up in the United Sates since I was six and moved here from Stavropol, Russia. I enjoyed my childhood and memories that I have experienced here in the states and in my small hometown of Arlington. This is where my passion for the outdoors grew with me enjoying hiking, the ocean and anything that will let me breathe in the air that surrounds our great state. I love the outdoors, hanging out with friends and just able to enjoy life here at WWU. This has influenced me heavily in my education, as I am an environmental science major with a marine emphasis and a minor in chemistry. I hope one day to do research in the great outdoors and help maintain the great environment that we have here in Washington. As I enter my third year here at Western, I hope that by being an RA I can help my residents, just as my freshman year RA did, to explore Western and their identities as they continue to grow.

Daniel Edgel

  • BT East 2-3

I’m Danny, and I’m going into my sophomore year studying Politics/Philosophy/Economics. I lived in Higginson last year, and I’m from a tiny town in the mountains of Northeastern Washington called Republic, but I spent the last two summers in Spokane (I worked for a U.S. Senator over the summer!). I mostly love to read and run, but I also enjoy kayaking, rock climbing, and card/board games (Risk is my favorite). My goal is to attend law school after I graduate from Western. My dream school is Georgetown University in Washington D.C. for a lot of reasons, but mostly because politics and public policy is my greatest and most consistent passion. I have never been accused of maintaining poor conversations, and I love to learn about people, so please stop by whenever you like. Chances are that talking to you is more interesting than whatever I am doing!

Alexandra Duhamel

  • BT East 4-5

My name is Allie Duhamel and I am a senior studying English Literature and Secondary Education. This is my second year as an RA; last year I was an RA in Buchanan Towers 4th floor classic, and this year I will be the 4th and 5th floor RA for Buchanan Towers Eastside. I’m hoping to become a high school English teacher in England or Australia, and I love to meet new people and get to the gym. I’m excited to be returning to the Eastside of BT since I lived there my sophomore year and had a blast. Here’s to the New Year, whoop!

Desk Attendant

Jessica Flanagan

My name is Jessica and I am from Port Orchard, WA. Im a senior majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. After graduation, I plan on moving to Japan where I will be an English teacher for younger children. I have one brother, one sister, and no pets. During my free time I enjoy hiking, kayaking, watching movies, listening to music, shopping, and reading. I like to try new things like skydiving and consider myself an adventurous person. I also love to travel and experience different cultures. I have traveled to Canada, Taiwan, and almost every state in America. In the future, I plan on visiting places like Ireland, Italy, and Germany. I wanted to become a DA because I enjoy working within the community and helping others. I find that the more you are involved in the community, the better experiences you will have.

Veronica Deatherage

I'm a current sophomore, born and raised in Everett Washington. My passion in life is people! I love to meet people, help them out, give advice, and add to their life in a positive way. Because of this, I'm majoring in Sociology (and possibly journalism). One day I hope to work as a social worker and writer where I plan to better the world as an individual. You'll probably catch me taking pictures of everything and everyone around campus.

Caitlin Stone

Hey there! My name is Caitlin and I am excited to be a returning desk attendant for Buchanan Towers. I am a Business Management major and English minor here at Western, and am looking forward to a career in event planning or project management after school. I also work at the costume shop for the theater on campus, so I stay pretty busy during the school year. When I have free time, I like to hang out with friends, explore Bellingham, read, and bake desserts! I also like meeting new people, so feel free to stop by the desk to ask any questions or just to chat!

Amanda Do

Hello! I am Amanda and I am from Vancouver, WA! This year I will be a sophomore and I am loving it here at Western and in Bellingham so far. Last year I lived in Higginson and this year I will be in Birnam Wood. I am planning on majoring in Human Services because I love helping others. I am not exactly sure what kind of job I would like to have in the future but I definitely want to work with young children. In my free time I enjoy hiking, shopping, baking, arts/crafts, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, and just spending time with my friends and family. I really love cheesecake, french fries, sunsets, the water, and being outside in general. I am so excited to be a DA this year in the BT and Birnam Wood community so that I can create a welcoming, loving environment for all to enjoy! :
