About
Hola a todos, I am River Alvarez I am an Environmental Science Major and minoring in Psychology, Administrative Business, and Global Studies. I will be a TA for the Outdoor Wellness Program, a great free resource to connect with nature, mental health, and people. I am a whitewater kayaker, and am returning from visiting family in California, studying in Belize, kayaking the Grand Canyon and paddling in Canada.I am bilingual, queer, neurodivergent; those are just a few labels, I am just an open and enthusiastic person who is stoked to see what the next year brings. Always more than happy to help out wherever I can and learn new things!Things I am passionate about are vast, but some of them are:Nerdy stuff, from science to movies/shows to games. Outdoor activities, from laying the grass to hiking to cold dipping to kayaking white water.Travel, being lucky enough to have traveled to many countries.Food, I will never turn down good food.Science, restoration, conservation, microscopes, fun facts, psychology, and more.Art, crafts, dancing, drawing, painting, and just getting creative.Animals, horses, dogs, cats, birds and even insects.Cars, okay trucks more specifically 1980s trucks.Honestly it's much harder to find a category I don't find interesting.I would love to learn about what resources/clubs y’all are a part of or to tell you about ones you may not have heard of. My absolute favorite part about being an RA is hearing about what y’all are into and what brought you to Western!
