Viking Tips

Only you can pick up your Western Card from our office.

WWU Students

All students registered for the current academic quarter are eligible to receive a Western Card. You will need to present valid photo ID to receive your card.

Your Western Photo will be used for University identification purposes other than your Western Card (for example, Professors get photos with their class rosters).

WCC Students

If you are a Whatcom Community College student living on Western's campus, you will not be eligible for a Western Card. However, if you have purchased a meal plan with WWU, you are eligible for a Dining Card. You will need to present valid photo ID to receive your Dining Card.

Your Western Card may be used on campus for:

Copy Money

You may add copy money to your Western Card's debit stripe at any campus coin or vending station. Copy money is accepted in campus copiers, vending machines, and library microfiche readers. The following locations accept coins and bills as methods of payment:

  • Parks Hall Lobby
  • Miller Hall 3rd Floor
  • Haggard Hall 1st Floor
  • Haggard Hall 2nd Floor Reserve Room
  • Haggard Hall 2nd Floor
  • Wilson Library 2nd Floor

Munch Money

Munch Money may be purchased online with a credit card, in person via cash or check only at the Dining Services Main Office, Edens 109 (Monda – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.), or via mailed check. It can be used at any campus dining location.

If your Western Card is confiscated at a Dining Hall your account will be charged $10 for misuse by Dining Services. The Western Card Office will notify you when your card arrives and you will need to talk to Dining Services about the issue.

Vending

Vending Machines in these locations allow you to pay with the money on your card's debit (copy money) stripe:

  • Haggard Hall
  • Parks Hall
  • Miller Hall

Library

You need your Western Card to check out materials from Western's Libraries.

Wade King Student Recreation Center

Your Western Card gives you access to the Rec Center as long as you are taking 6 credits or more, or have paid the membership fee.

If your Western Card is confiscated at the Wade King Student Recreation Center, the Rec Center will hold on to your card and you will have to follow their procedures to pick it up.

University Cashier

If you work on campus, you can pick up your paychecks by showing your Western Card to the University Cashier in Old Main 245.

Parking Services

A Western Card is required to purchase an on-campus parking pass from Parking Services.

ATUS

With your Western Card, you can check out laptops, wireless cards, and other technological equipment from ATUS.

Your Western Card cannot be given to anyone else to use at any on-campus or off-campus location.
