Residence Life Staff

The staff of the Office of University Residences perform a variety of functions in order to operate the residences and provide service to you. The people filling the positions described below are available to assist you during your stay in our residential facilities.

Professional Staff

Resident Directors

The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time exempt, 12-month appointment, live-in position within University Residences. The Resident Director reports to an Assistant Director of Residence Life during the academic year. Summer assignments may be supervised by the Manager for Conference and Guest Housing.

Resident Directors supervise staff, manage facilities, and coordinate the activities and programs of a University residential community or apartment complex, including summer conference programs and guest housing. Resident Directors provide a safe, secure, living environment that maximizes the living/learning experience and involvement opportunities for its community members. Resident Directors serve as the primary supervisors for staff and programs in their area of responsibility during the summer. The Resident Director is student centered, customer-service oriented, motivated, and has the ability and desire to work in an organization that promotes, enhances, and recognizes student learning and academic success.

Assistant Resident Directors

Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) are provided in some living areas to assist the Resident Director in overall management of the complex.

Resident Advisors

Online Application

Resident Advisors (RAs) are typically undergraduates and the primary resource person for students living in our residential system.  Some of the responsibilities of an RA are: provide educational programs, assist residents in planning floor activities, provide individual advisement and counsel, assist in general management of the hall, serve as a role model to residents and explain, confront and report violations of housing policies and regulations.  The RA lives in the hall/apartment complex and reports to the Resident Director.

Desk Attendants

Desk Attendants provide information and check out equipment and supplies to residents during scheduled hours.  They are also responsible for distributing the U.S. and campus mail.
