Construction at Buchanan Towers

Welcome to Buchanan Towers! A long awaited expansion of Buchanan Towers is underway to meet demand for student housing at Western. The addition is scheduled to open Fall 2010. Also in the works is the installation of a new sprinkler system in the existing east wing, scheduled to begin in April. These construction projects will impact your initial arrival, parking for the academic year, and possible reassignment at the end of Winter Quarter.

Residential Parking

The BT residential parking lot will be closed for the 2009 – 2010 academic year. Residential parking will therefore be in Lot R16CR near the Fairhaven Complex. In addition, a limited number of permits are available for Sehome High School's parking lot located across the street from BT.

Fall Arrival Schedule

  • Buchanan Towers residents can move in early by floor, according to the arrival times listed below.
  • Our incremental system will mitigate some parking and loading constraints, and allow you to arrange your room collaboratively with your roommate.
  • The first meal served in the dining commons is dinner on Sunday September 20, 2009; all suites in BT have a kitchenette with refrigerator, sink and stove.
  • Early Arrival fees will be waived for BT residents.

Floors 2, 3 (Rooms 201 – 318) Sunday, September 20, 2009 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Open Arrival Sunday, September 20, 2009 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Some Residents Will Relocate by Spring Quarter

Residents of the Buchanan Towers east wing (rooms ending in numerals 11 – 18) will move to a new housing assignment by the end of Winter Quarter, either within Buchanan Towers or to another residence hall. The BT administrative assistant will contact you during Fall Quarter to establish your moving preferences.
