Aug 30 - Sept 10: Campuswide Steam Shutdown Impacts Dining Services

August 21, 2009

The Annual Steam Shutdown will occur on campus Sunday, August 30th – Thursday, September 10th. The Whatcom County Health Department requires accessibility to hot running water in restrooms for our customers in order for us to prepare and serve made-to-order food and beverages. During the steam shutdown, all hot running water on campus is turned off.

Miller Market, located on Red Square in its temporary location, will be the only University Dining venue open during this time:

  • It will be open Monday-Friday, 7:30a – 5:00p.
  • Grab n" Go sandwiches and salads, bagels, muffins, snacks, espresso, drip coffee and hot tea are available.
  • Espresso beverages are available during the steam shutdown period.
  • If the Steam Shutdown finishes early, Miller Market will resume full services.

On Monday, September 14, Viking Union food services and Miller Market will be open with regular intersession hours of operation.
