How you buy Munch Money is changing after June 12, 2009

June 9, 2009

After June 12, 2009, Munch Money can be deposited directly with University Dining Services (Sodexo), and will no longer be purchased from University Residences.

University Residences (a.k.a. the Housing office) is consolidating various functions to save operating costs, as well as taking steps to make the purchase of Munch Money simpler and quicker for students, faculty and staff. To that end, moving the purchase of Munch Money to an on-line process eliminates the need to visit Edens Hall.

Buying In-person After June 12, Munch Money may be purchased in-person at University Dining Services’ Main Office, Edens Hall 109, via cash or check. Buying in-person avoids paying the online convenience fee. Moving the “in-person” purchase location to University Dining Services also allows the purchase and encoding of the Munch Money to occur all in one place.

Buying Online Any current WWU student, faculty or staff member with a valid W# can deposit money to an existing Munch Money account. Parents or family members can make a deposit with their student's W#.

  • You will be connected to a secure site provided by "CBORD: ManageMyID"
  • All major credit cards are accepted: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa and Carte Blanche
  • The minimum deposit amount online is $25.00
  • A $1.75 convenience fee applies to online transactions
  • Munch Money will be immediately available to use with your Western Card

Why is there a $1.75 convenience fee for online transactions? The convenience fee is required to offset the cost of credit card charges, which is about 3% for each transaction. By fall quarter University Dining Services plans to charge convenience fees consistent with the 2.75% fee charged by the University for online transactions. The $1.75 flat dollar fee is being used until the billing software is capable of processing a percent based fee.

The option to buy Munch Money online should make it even more convenient for students, faculty and staff to take advantage of the savings from this program: when you use Munch Money as your form of payment in Dining locations you’ll receive a 10% discount on purchase total, and will not pay sales tax on food purchases.

Is it Refundable? If a student, faculty or staff member leaves the university (no longer employed, graduates or withdraws), they can request a refund of any balance in their Munch Money account.
