Mardi Gras Comes Early to the Dining Halls

Mardi Gras Theme Dinner

On Thursday, January 22, Viking Commons, Ridgeway Commons and Fairhaven Commons will be getting festive with a Mardi Gras Theme Meal. The special dinner will be from 5:00p-6:45p and the dining halls will be decked out in their finest fashions. Be ready to feel as if you’ve been transported into the heart of New Orleans. The chefs have been hard at work compiling an authentic and delicious Cajun and Creole inspired menu, including:

Starters

  • Roasted Tomato & Fennel Soup and Crawfish Bisque
  • Seafood Pasta Salad & Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad
  • Refreshing Coleslaw
  • Peel & Eat Gulf Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce

Entrées

  • Spicy Cajun Rubbed Salmon Fillet
  • Savory Chicken Creole over White Rice
  • New Orleans-Style Red Beans and Rice
  • Mother's Slow-cooked Pork Po' Boy with Skillet Gravy
  • Louisiana Sausage Pizza with Spicy Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
  • Rotini Pasta with Chicken or Vegetarian Bayou Seasoned Alfredo Sauce

Sides

  • Roasted Red Potatoes
  • Creamed Spinach
  • Succotash
  • Sweet Potato Fries

Desserts

  • Pecan Pie with Whipped Cream
  • Bread Pudding with Whiskey Caramel Sauce

Any Western Washington University students, faculty, staff or guests may attend the dinner by means of a Western meal plan, Munch Money, Dining Dollars, cash or credit card. The all inclusive price is $10.75, plus sales tax for cash and credit card payments.
