Moving Out During the Year

Moving Off Campus Completely

The length of the Housing Agreement is the full academic year or remainder thereof if you moved in mid-year. Termination of the Agreement is subject to a contract breakage fee up to $400 except in cases of school withdrawal, graduation, study abroad, internship or approved appeal. You are responsible for room and meal plan charges through the day you check out. Note that you should stop using your meal plan the day you check out.

Follow the procedure for moving out in the Residential Community Handbook online. Leaving out without officially checking out will result in room and meal plan charges up through the day you are discovered gone, along with charges for improper check-out and rekeying your room.

Transferring Rooms within the Housing System

To transfer rooms within your current building or to another building entirely, you must contact your Resident Director for a consultation. Room transfers require permission and space availability. Once approved to transfer rooms, you must follow procedure for moving out of your old room and into your new room within 48 hours.

Year End Checkout

The Housing Agreement officially expires at 4:00pm on Friday June 10, 2011. Students are notified in May of year-end check-out procedures and requirements. Follow official procedure for moving out to avoid improper check-out and/or rekey charges.

Parking/Loading Information

  • Expect heavy traffic near buildings throughout finals week. You may be required to wait for your desired loading zone.
  • Students are required to obey all posted parking codes and regulations, even during the move out process.
  • Loading zones are for temporary use only. Any unattended vehicle parked for more than 20 minutes in a loading zone will be subject to fines and/or vehicle impound.
  • When parking, make sure to allow for the departure/arrival of other vehicles to the area and make sure you are not blocking the immediate loading zone exit.
  • Student volunteers will be available in some areas to help facilitate the flow of traffic and the loading of vehicles. Please follow their direction in helping you move out.
